Are you a poet?

Then get ready for FPPL's own way of celebrating National Poetry Month -- our Poetry Slam Cafe event on April 9. We'll be enjoying coffeehouse style refreshements (coffee, tea, scones, muffins and cookies) and sharing our favorite poems with each other -- ones that we wrote or if you're not ready to share, then just ones that you love.

Start gathering your stuff now...

F.Y.I. for Future Manga Artists...

If you read manga, why not take your interest to the next level and try to draw your own? If you're not sure where to start, we happen to know of a great free, fast and easy tutorial at---where else--- http://www.mangatutorials.com/. This site walks you through everything you can think of, including how to draw anatomy, gear, backgrounds and effects (like fire and explosions). Check it out.

King Dork

Here's a review by FPPL's own Rory on King Dork, by Frank Portman, which you can find in our YA Fiction section. So, if you're looking for something new to read...

King Dork: A Review, by Rory

The main character of this book ("Chi-mo") is, for lack of a better word, a genius. He has to be the luckiest "dork" in the world, but he gets in a lot of trouble. This book is a hi-larious (read the book -- you'll get the joke), but is kind of hard to follow. If you start reading it, trust me, you'll like it. It's better as it goes on. One last statment: this book is not for younger kids.
