Anime-zing Tutorial!

It was good to see such talented artists at today's Shoujo drawing workshop. Keep your eyes peeled for more installments in our manga drawing series, but in the meantime, check out this great tutorial that one of our teen artists scouted out for us on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiQ3K6nyOek. Although some of the beginning pencil lines are a little faint at first, it's a really nice step-by-step breakdown that goes slowly enough that you can follow right along without having to keep clicking pause--good enough that this librarian can even forgive the imperfect grammar on the title page!

As you watch, note the distinctive Shoujo miniscule nose and dainty mouth that counterbalance the (also distinctive) Shoujo eyes and forehead. If you want some ideas for good eye styles--and you have a short attention span--check out the whirlwind and also-impressive 100 Ways to Draw Manga Eyes on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYHzcM32f1I&feature=related.

New TV Series on DVDs

Doctor Who is the ever changing time traveler who fights to protect our world and galaxy.  In this collection of specials, fans get four imaginative, action-packed specials which see the Doctor as he changes from one face to the next, including The Next Doctor, Planet of the Dead, The Waters of Mars and The End of Time.  Make sure to check out this BBC fan favorite as soon as you can!

Will Smith may have a karate kicking son and a daughter with too much hair, but he started out as a kid from Philly on the popular tv series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.  In Season One, we get to know Will and his new family including cousins Carlton, Ashley and Hilary, his aunt and uncle, and the butler Geoffrey.  Catch up with a favorite old show or get to know a new one!
